C.F.F Wearnes & Co. is a motor company which was founded in 1906 by Australian brothers, Charlie Frederick Foster Wearnes and Theodore James Benjamin Wearnes and three years later, Wearnes started to expand the business by securing the Rolls-Royce franchise. During 1911-1937, Wearnes purchased the Ford franchise in Singapore and Myanmar and added the Bentley franchise. Apart from that, Wearnes envisaged providing air service in Malaya and shipped in an Avro-Avian plane to be assembled by Malayan Motors' mechanics.
Wearnes formed Associated Motor Industries Malaysia Sdn Bhd to assemble passenger cars in plants. and in the next following year, The Riley, Wolesley, Austin-Healey, and Princess franchises were acquired. But with the global recession and energy crisis, oil taxation has aggravated and curtailed private car ownership ceased its operations as the car assembly business in Singapore was no longer economically viable. In the 1980s, Wearnes sold off Associated Motor Industries Malaysia Sdn Bhd to Ford Motor Company and focused on being an automotive retail dealer.
Between 2000 and 2005, Wearnes attained the Volvo franchise and further expanded with dealerships in Malaysia (2003), Hong Kong (2004), and Thailand (2005). As a matter of fact, Wearnes also established a dealership to represent Mazda in Thailand. In 2006, The year of celebrations and further growth, Wearnes celebrated its centennial year and topped its achievements to date by procuring the Bugatti sales agency for the Southeast Asia region and the Renault franchise in Singapore.
Wearnes rebranded all its various automotive companies and divisions under a single brand – Wearnes Automotive – with a new tagline "Passion Driven. Since 1906." and gradually attained The Land Rover franchise (2010), McLaren franchise (2011), Infiniti franchise (2011). During 2012-2018, Wearnes opened several dealerships and showrooms for BMW, MINI, Bentley, Aston Martin, and Ducati in Malaysia, Indonesia, Singapore, and eventually, Thailand with Lotus Cars now in its hands as an official distributor.
